How AI Applicant Triage Works
A plain-language walkthrough of what happens when a recruiter runs triage on your application.
3 min readOne batched read, not a blind auto-filter
When a recruiter runs triage, the AI reads every applicant in the chosen time window in a single pass. It's not scanning for keywords one at a time; it's forming a ranked view of the whole applicant pool at once.
You land in one of three tiers
Top 20 (the strongest fits), Consider, or Decline. Landing in Top 20 is a real, specific signal. It only happens once a recruiter has actually run triage on that listing, not automatically for every application.
It drafts, it never sends
The AI can draft quick-fire responses for candidates in each tier, but every single one requires the recruiter's review and approval before anything reaches you. There's no automated messaging happening behind the scenes.
You only ever see your own result
If you're ranked, you'll see your own Top 20 badge on your dashboard, never anyone else's score, tier, or identity. Rankings stay private between the recruiter and each individual candidate.
